SUSTAINABILITY

Why is sustainability important?
Because it is not only about protecting our planet for future generations, but also about creating a livable world for all of us now and in the future. Sustainability is key to conserving our natural resources, reducing our carbon footprint and building resilient communities. At Microz, we believe in taking responsibility for the impact we have on the environment and striving for positive change. Discover below how we are committed to sustainability. Together, we are building a sustainable future.

What is Microz doing for sustainability?

In 2022, we moved to our new building location. This was the perfect opportunity for us to start working on
sustainability for the production facility and office departments.

  • Before the construction of the new building we had an energy scan carried out.
This was followed by a decision to install solar panels on our new building and warehouse.
Ultimately, we have nearly 600 solar panels that make a very large contribution to our annual energy needs.
  • Our new building is well insulated, with extra insulation panels in our production areas.
We also use energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the building.
  • We operate an air conditioning system within our entire building with hot and cold recovery.
We also have a high-quality water softener in use, which allows us to extend the life of our equipment that uses water.
  • Our fossil fuel vehicle fleet has been exchanged for only electric cars.
  • We are also proud that as of 2022 our new premises are completely disconnected from the gas grid.
  • In 2024, we started applying for sustainability certifications such as Ecovadis and SMETA4.

Ecovadis

Ecovadis is an assessment system based on international sustainability standards. The results of the assessment are presented in a sustainability scorecard, which illustrates the performance of 21 indicators in four themes:

  1. Environment
  2. Labor and Human Rights.
  3. Ethics
  4. Sustainable Procurement.

SMETA

Developed by Sedex, SMETA audits are designed to protect workers from unsafe conditions, overwork, discrimination, low wages and forced labor. SMETA is the most widely used social audit in the world and identifies and prioritizes risks using a two- or four-pillar audit.

At Microz, we are going for the four pillar audit in 2025. This audit includes 4 modules:

  1. Labor Standards
  2. Health of safety
  3. Environmental assessment
  4. Business ethics.

SOCIAL
RESPONSIBLE
COMPANY

At Microz, we also believe in equal opportunities for all. Sustainability is thus also in the way we treat our colleagues. We continue to invest in each other, so that working at Microz is more than just having a job.

Microz is a co-founder of KOM'MIT. KOM'MIT is a business network that focuses on people with a distance to the labor market and their talent. The partners within the foundation help bring these talents to fruition. These colleagues are full members of the Microz family with their own responsibility and role within the organization.
